Built for hygiene, heat and heavy use
Polyurethane flooring is a strong option for sites where a basic coating is not enough. It is commonly used in food production, wet processing areas, commercial kitchens, manufacturing environments, workshops and heavy-use industrial spaces where floors are exposed to water, cleaning chemicals, impact, foot traffic, forklift movement or temperature changes.
The correct polyurethane floor depends on the floor condition, required system depth, drainage, cleaning process, slip resistance, expected traffic, cure time and the environment the floor needs to perform in. SRS can assess the site and recommend a practical specification before installation.
Tell us about your floor, site use, cleaning process and timescale. We’ll advise whether polyurethane flooring, epoxy flooring or another resin system is the best fit.

Technical flooring guidance
Polyurethane flooring is often chosen for environments where strength, hygiene, moisture tolerance and temperature resistance are important. Final specification should always follow a site survey and assessment of the existing substrate.
| Requirement | Why PU flooring helps | Common environments | Typical considerations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wet areas and washdown | PU systems can be specified for durable, hygienic and easier-to-clean floors. | Food production, kitchens, wet processing and preparation areas | Drainage, slip profile, cleaning chemicals and system depth |
| Thermal shock resistance | Polyurethane screeds can cope better with temperature changes than many standard coatings. | Food factories, bakeries, chilled areas and hot washdown zones | Operating temperatures, cleaning process and substrate condition |
| Heavy-use industrial floors | PU flooring can provide a tough, long-lasting surface for demanding operations. | Factories, workshops, production areas and plant rooms | Traffic load, impact risk, floor preparation and cure time |
| Hygiene-critical environments | Seamless resin flooring reduces joints and can support easier cleaning. | Food, beverage, pharmaceutical and clean working spaces | Hygiene requirements, coving, falls, drainage and aftercare |

Our process
Good polyurethane flooring starts with the right preparation and specification. We assess the condition of the existing floor, how the site is used and what the floor needs to resist before recommending the right system.
