Resin flooring for residential interiors

A seamless alternative to tiles, boards and traditional flooring

Domestic resin flooring creates a continuous surface across a room
instead of repeating individual tiles, boards or grout lines.

This can work particularly well in contemporary kitchens,
extensions and open-plan living spaces where the floor forms
part of the overall interior design.

The correct residential resin floor should be chosen around the
existing substrate, room use, preferred finish, cleaning requirements
and the practical installation programme.

A polyurethane comfort floor used inside a home is also very
different from an industrial epoxy coating or an external
resin-bound driveway surface.

Important: the finished appearance is only one
part of the project. The condition and preparation of the existing
floor remain fundamental to the completed resin system.

Where can it be used?

Domestic resin flooring for different areas of the home

Different rooms place different demands on a floor, so the
resin system should be chosen around the actual environment.

KIT

Kitchens

A seamless resin finish can create a clean contemporary base
underneath modern kitchens and islands.

OPEN

Open-plan living

One continuous floor can visually connect kitchen, dining
and living areas without repeated changes in finish.

HALL

Hallways & entrances

Resin flooring can continue through circulation spaces and
adjoining rooms to create a consistent interior.

USE

Garages & utility areas

Harder-use domestic spaces may need a different resin
specification from the main living areas of the home.

rather than appearing as a separate industrial coating.

Choose the system around the room

Not every domestic resin floor should use the same system

Residential flooring should be specified around the actual space
rather than treating every domestic project as a standard epoxy floor.

decorative finish with a more cushioned feel for residential interiors.

Choosing the right domestic flooring route

Different areas can need different resin systems

This is a useful starting point only. The final recommendation
should follow assessment of the existing floor and proposed use.

Area Possible flooring route Why it may suit Important considerations
Kitchen & living areas Polyurethane comfort resin Seamless decorative appearance with a more comfortable feel Subfloor condition, finish, colour, room use and system requirements
Open-plan interiors Seamless comfort resin Allows one continuous surface through connected spaces Floor transitions, substrate and overall interior design
Garage Epoxy or other suitable resin system Practical hard-wearing finish for harder-use domestic space Vehicle traffic, tyres, contamination and existing concrete
Utility / workshop Epoxy or suitable PU system Durable surface for more practical working areas Traffic, impact, oils, cleaning and floor condition

The selected manufacturer system and agreed specification take
priority over general website guidance.

Why use SRS?

The floor underneath the resin matters as much as the finish

A domestic resin floor is not simply a coloured coating applied
over whatever surface already exists.

SRS considers the existing substrate, previous finishes,
preparation, repairs, moisture, room use and chosen resin system
before installation begins.

  • Existing floor condition assessed
  • Preparation considered before product choice
  • Different residential areas treated differently
  • Clear explanation of the proposed system
  • Practical cleaning and maintenance considered

Modern interiors

kitchens and open-plan homes.

System choice

Comfort resin, epoxy and other flooring routes have
different uses and characteristics.

Preparation first

The finished resin system still depends on the quality and
condition of the surface beneath it.

Our process

From initial enquiry to completed domestic resin floor

The same straightforward SRS process applies to domestic work:
understand the existing floor first, then select the appropriate system.

01

Discuss

Review the rooms, location, floor area, existing surface
and preferred appearance.

02

Assess

Consider the existing concrete or screed, defects,
preparation and any relevant moisture issues.

03

Prepare & install

Carry out the agreed preparation and install the specified
resin flooring system.

04

Handover

Inspect the completed floor and discuss practical cleaning
and aftercare guidance.

Frequently asked questions

Domestic resin flooring FAQs

Common questions from homeowners considering resin flooring.

Is resin flooring suitable for homes?

Yes. Suitable resin systems can be used in residential interiors.
The correct system depends on the room, substrate, expected use
and preferred finish.

Is domestic resin flooring the same as an epoxy garage floor?

No. A polyurethane comfort floor designed for a living space
can have very different characteristics from an epoxy system
installed in a garage or workshop.

Can resin flooring work with underfloor heating?

Selected systems may be compatible with underfloor heating.
The heating system, screed, complete floor build-up and
manufacturer requirements need to be checked before installation.

Do domestic resin floors scratch?

Resin flooring can mark or scratch depending on the system,
furniture, traffic and use. It should not be described as
completely scratch-proof.

Is resin flooring easy to clean?

A seamless floor has fewer repeated joints across the main
surface than tiled flooring. Cleaning requirements still depend
on the selected finish and manufacturer’s aftercare guidance.

Can resin flooring go over an existing floor?

Sometimes, but the existing surface must first be assessed.
Failed coatings, damaged screed, contamination, moisture or
other defects may require preparation or repair.

Is domestic resin flooring the same as resin bound flooring?

No. Domestic resin flooring is an internal resin floor system.
Resin-bound surfacing uses resin and aggregate and is normally
associated with outdoor areas such as driveways, patios and paths.

Where is Superior Resin Solutions based?

SRS is based in Rhigos near Aberdare in South Wales.
Suitable domestic flooring projects can be discussed based
on location, floor area and installation requirements.
