Anti-Slip Resin Flooring Bristol for a Busy Hotel Changing-Room Environment

SRS was appointed by a facilities company to complete the flooring package as part of a wider refurbishment at Village Hotel Bristol.

This anti-slip resin flooring Bristol project covered approximately 240m² across changing rooms, toilets, showers, corridors, locker rooms, stairs, landings and the entrance leading towards the swimming pool.

Existing finishes included vinyl and tiled flooring. The refurbishment was also driven by the need to improve the floor in areas that could become slippery when wet.

  • Toilets and shower areas
  • Corridors and pool entrance
  • Stairs and landings
  • Seamless floor-to-cove detailing
  • Hotel remained operational throughout the works
Operational requirement: because the hotel continued operating during the refurbishment, keeping work areas clean, tidy and free from unnecessary equipment or clutter was a key part of the programme.

Removing the Old Finishes and Preparing the Substrate Properly

The new resin flooring could not simply be installed over the existing vinyl and tiled surfaces. The underlying floor had to be exposed and mechanically prepared before the Altro system could be applied.

Installed flooring system

Altro Proof DPM and Altro Grip 4.5mm Seamless Resin Flooring

The flooring specification combined substrate preparation, a damp-proof membrane and a slip-resistant resin flooring system selected for the changing-room and wet-use environment.

Altro describes Grip 4.5mm as a multi-layer epoxy resin system for medium-to-heavy duty wet areas where there is an increased risk of slipping, including changing rooms and showers.

Project delivery

Completed in One Week While the Hotel Remained Operational

The flooring programme had to work around an operating hotel. SRS worked closely with the hotel team to keep the working environment organised, clean and controlled throughout the refurbishment.

01

Coordinate

Work was planned with the hotel around access, operational areas and the refurbishment programme.

02

Prepare

Old floor finishes and residual latex were removed before diamond grinding the exposed substrate.

03

Install

Altro Proof and Altro Grip 4.5mm were installed across the changing-room and adjoining wet-use areas.

04

Complete

Floors, stairs, landings and coved details were completed within the one-week flooring programme.

Wet-area slip resistance

A Textured Resin Finish for Hotel Changing Rooms and Pool Access

Wet changing rooms need flooring to be selected around the actual way the environment is used. Water, showers, pedestrian movement, cleaning and the transition towards the pool all influenced the flooring requirement on this project.

The close-up photographs show the textured Altro Grip finish used across the completed Village Hotel Bristol floor, including the surface while wet. This gives the anti-slip resin flooring Bristol case study genuine project evidence from the exact wet-use environment the system was selected for.

Anti-slip flooring should still be considered alongside cleaning methods, drainage, contamination and the expected type of foot traffic rather than simply choosing the roughest surface available.

Coving Formed as Part of the Main Resin Flooring Installation

The changing-room refurbishment required more than treating the flat floor area. Wall interfaces, toilets, showers, doors, stairs and other details all had to be incorporated into the installation.

SRS formed the coving as the main Altro Grip flooring was installed, producing a continuous seamless floor-to-wall finish through the relevant areas.

This seamless approach was particularly suited to the changing-room and shower environment, where cleanliness and detailed finishing were important parts of the completed refurbishment.

Working in an operational hotel

Clean, Controlled Delivery While the Hotel Remained Open

Village Hotel Bristol remained operational during the flooring works. SRS therefore worked closely with the hotel throughout the programme, maintaining tidy work areas and keeping routes free from unnecessary equipment and clutter.

01

Operational building

Flooring works were delivered as part of a live hotel refurbishment rather than within an empty building.

02

Close coordination

SRS worked with the hotel team to manage the flooring programme around the wider operation of the site.

03

Clean working areas

Good housekeeping and keeping working areas clear were particularly important while guests and hotel staff continued using the building.

Project FAQs

Questions About the Village Hotel Bristol Flooring Project

What resin flooring system was installed at Village Hotel Bristol?

For this anti-slip resin flooring Bristol project, SRS installed Altro Proof as the damp-proof membrane followed by Altro Grip 4.5mm slip-resistant resin flooring in the Southdown colour.

How large was the Village Hotel flooring project?

The flooring package covered approximately 240m² across changing rooms, toilets, showers, corridors, locker rooms, stairs, landings and the entrance leading towards the swimming pool.

Why was slip-resistant flooring required?
